Cost-effective, adaptable Proviso fungicide an excellent partner for broad spectrum control

Jamie Taylor, Branch Manager and Head Agronomist with Nutrien Ag Solutions in Dubbo, NSW discussing how he sees Proviso® Fungicide having key fit in cropping systems through the State’s Central West region this season.

Harry Pickering ADAMA Australia Market Development Manager, NSW, introducing the new Proviso® Fungicide, which controls a wide range of diseases in wheat, barley, oats & canola, including blackleg, sclerotinia & net blotch.

The launch of Proviso® by ADAMA Australia heralds the introduction of a more cost-effective and adaptable fungicide to target all major diseases in canola and cereal crops, including blackleg and sclerotinia, net blotches and septoria leaf blotch.

Proviso is a novel prothioconazole fungicide featuring ADAMA’s unique Asorbital™ technology, which enables enhanced uptake and systemic activity for improved efficacy, compatibility and crop safety.

Prothioconazole has shown to be the most effective demethylation inhibitor (DMI) fungicide for controlling various diseases, including net blotch populations with low and developing levels of resistance. However, rather than simply introducing another prothioconazole fungicide, ADAMA strived to develop an all-new formulation of the proven active ingredient to ensure real and tangible benefits to growers.

Proviso fungicide - the latest addition to ADAMA Australia’s premium broadacre fungicide range

Proviso can be used in tank mixes with a range of other crop protection and nutrition products, controlling a broader range of diseases in canola and cereals, including fusarium head blight in wheat, and to assist disease management. Effective tank mix partners include Veritas® in canola, Orius® in oats, Veritas and Orius in barley and Veritas, Orius and Radial® in wheat. Proviso can be ideally applied as the first foliar application following the use of Succinate Dehydrogenase Inhibitor (SDHI) or strobilurin-based fungicides on seed or in-furrow.

It means growers can look forward to additional options for controlling diseases and assisting disease resistance management; flexibility of treatment timings; and, critically, crop safety in mixes with various other protection and input products, allowing convenient, one-pass applications and further enhancing disease control and resistance management.

“Growers will be aware of crop safety and mixing issues when tank mixing various crop protection and nutrition products. Proviso is a safer formulation for applications in mixtures, allowing growers to cover their crops in one pass,’’ said Matt Sherriff, ADAMA Australia Portfolio Manager – Fungicides.

“Compared with using other fungicides, they will have more flexibility than they have had before to go with various tank mixes from an early stage.’’

Proviso also was recently included in 30 trials across the country, where it demonstrated its mixing capability with numerous products, crop safety and effectiveness against all major diseases compared with existing standards.

Jamie Taylor, Branch Manager and Head Agronomist with Nutrien Ag Solutions at Dubbo in New South Wales, expects Proviso will have a key fit in cropping systems through the state’s Central West region.

Jamie said it has excellent compatibility, allowing it to be included in tank mixes with Veritas and Radial to extend its broad spectrum disease control even further, was a major bonus.
