Bank on proven local products to produce extra yield and savings

Soil inoculants really punch above their weight when it comes to providing a return on investment. They are a relatively low-cost input, yet the Australian Inoculants Research Group (AIRG) has estimated in the past that using them usually saves Australian agriculture as a whole about $4 billion a year.

The key is that they pay off twice over. As well as boosting the yields of the treated grain legume crops, they add residual nitrogen to the soil that will feed following crops. That’s where the big savings come in, because growers needn’t pay for urea or other N-based fertilisers for those ‘inoculated’ paddocks in the second year.

Of course, that pay-off only comes if the inoculants have produced the nodules on the treated crops, which is one of the reasons local manufacture can make a big difference.

Nodulaid® peat inoculants have always been made here in Australia using regularly updated local strains of rhizobia to ensure a strong crop response. That’s helped make Nodulaid the leading local brand across nearly 7 decades.

Now that Nodulator® inoculant granules are also produced at the upgraded BASF BioTech Solutions facility on the NSW Central Coast, growers can choose the more convenient and precise application option with extra confidence.
