Maximise your Group 1 options for grass control in broadleaf crops with Nufarm Factor.

3rd June 2024

The golden rule of any resistance management strategy has not changed; with each application ensure you get the highest level of weed control possible. After all these years what offers the best chance of achieving adequate control?

Nufarm Factor is a uniquely Australian herbicide built for Australian farmers to control one of Australia’s most troublesome weeds - annual ryegrass. The combination of Factor with Clethodim has been shown to offer management of Clethodim resistant ryegrass, and can be used on a wide range of broadleaf crops including winter pulses, oilseeds and pasture.

Daniel Hillebrand, agribusiness agronomist from Nutrien Kadina on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia has been using Factor for years. “We’ve got a very big lentil program, and ryegrass is getting very difficult to control. Factor is almost started to become a staple grass product in the districts, but certainly where we are starting to get some larger populations and we have renowned areas which are hard to kill, Factor is the number 1 product to go in.” Daniel said.

Mixing for greater control

Nufarm Factor can be used alone in the legume phase at 180 grams plus to manage resistant ryegrass, its real benefits are seen when it is combined with other grass selective herbicides, like clethodim to give greater management of grass weeds. The combination of Factor with Clethodim has been shown to offer management of Clethodim resistant ryegrass.

“Factor clethodim is the starting base, we’ve got a fair few areas around the place which do have high brome populations so I have been actually putting a three way mix with the Targa or Verdicts of the world, and also with the lentil programs they’ve been getting mixed in with the Imi chemistry as well.” said Daniel.
