Marshmallow Weed Control

1 May 2025

Marshmallow (Malva parviflora) also known as Small-Flowered Mallow is a hard to kill annual/biannual weed. It is found on driveways, industrial areas, animal yards, pastures and under trees where livestock congregate.

Marshmallow is difficult to control due to its natural tolerance to glyphosate. It is generally noticed in yards after an area has been sprayed with a knockdown herbicide like glyphosate. Once all the weeds susceptible to glyphosate die off, the marshmallow plants remain, growing back and greening up the area again. If sprayed with glyphosate, the marshmallow may show signs of dying off but from experience it will almost always recover. Below is a photo of this exact situation.

How to kill Marshmallow:

Marshmallow has a natural tolerance to glyphosate and glyphosate on its own is not effective in controlling marshmallow. Weed Force Fang 240 Marshmallow and Nettle Herbicide tank mixed with a knockdown herbicide like glyphosate can improve your control of this troublesome weed.

Fang 240 Marshmallow and Nettle Herbicide is registered to be applied with a knockdown herbicide like Weed Force Evict Bio 360 to control the following weeds:

  • Capeweed
  • Common Storksbill
  • Marshmallow
  • Paterson’s Curse
  • Wild Radish

Rapid Brownout: Fang 240 Marshmallow & Nettle Herbicide can also increase speed of brown out!

The addition of Fang 240 Marshmallow and Nettle Herbicide can also speed up the rate of brown out on registered broad leaf weeds, providing visually quicker results. Below is a photo demonstrating the speed of brownout when tank mixing Evict Bio 360 with Fang 240 Herbicide and applying to Marshmallow and Capeweed.

Fang 240 Marshmallow and Nettle Herbicide is a great addition to Evict Bio 360 where you are looking to control hard-to-kill broadleaf weeds like Marshmallow or are looking for an increased speed of brownout.
